Our Play; "Snow White Says No Thank You"
We performed this for the first time in December 2014; this is a draft we have changed every time we put it on! - Hope you like it.
Once upon a time, we know
This story happened, long ago.
Sometimes those who aren't so pretty
Are other things, like smart and witty
We're not all gorgeous all the time
We all get old and that's just fine
You might have heard a different story
Where Handsome Prince gets all the glory
The weak ones can also be brave!
The strong ones don't always behave.
Handsome is as handsome does,
Thus it is and always was.
This is just what really happened...
- (The modern version, not the old-fashioned)
Snow White lay motionless in state,
Since she was poisoned, 'twas her fate.
The Princess in her coffin lay
The dwarves stayed by her night and day
Her skin was pale, as white as snow
Her shining hair black as a crow
It was a very unusual sight
It would for sure give you a fright
If you came by when in the woods
The sadness would leave you in floods!
You won't believe what happened next,
It made Snow White get really vexed.
But one fine day a Prince came past
And kissed that princess, bold as brass.
Her ruby lips were quite delicious
That man was broke and quite ambitious
He'd spotted her fine crown of jewels
He thought he'd snatch them, next he drools..
"Awake Snow White, you've saved my life!
Tomorrow you will be my wife
I'll very much be in your debt
I lost my fortune on a bet
I'll take that crown what's yours is mine
When you sign on the dotted line".
Snow White sat up, she looked quite dazed
The naughty Prince, he wasn't fazed
"Our Wedding will take place tomorrow
The bank you see won't let me borrow."
"Hey Mr. Prince what did you do?"
"I gave her a kiss, you fool!"
"Excuse me - Do I know you, Sir?
The last long while has been a blur.
I was poisoned and remember now!
You must have killed that poisoner - wow!
I don't like kissing a strangers
I was always warned it lead to danger."
“You fell into a scary sleep
It made us gnash our teeth and weep
We made for you this bed of glass
And kept a vigil round your casque
We chased that poisoner off a cliff
The shock still makes us weep and sniff
We minded you each day in hope
That you’d wake up, ‘twas hard to cope”
"Say Push off Dopey, what a shorty!
What’s it like being fat and Forty?”
"You tease someone for not being clever?
Words can hurt, it lasts forever.
You may not learn this in schoolbooks,
It’s cruel to taunt somebody’s looks.
Tease someone for their appearance?
They may have genius and perseverance,
Name-calling’s mean in every way.
With my short friends I’d sooner stay.
These dwarves were messy now they’re neat
Not tall, dark handsome but short and sweet
I like things round me to be clean
But I don’t like when men are mean.
When I came visiting long ago
I taught these dwarves to cook and sew
And always keep the cottage clean
And sort the bins to grey and green.
I made a business of my own
The dwarves they help me on the phone
A big success: - it’s really grown!
It’s great here - we don’t feel alone.
I’m staying here with my charming friends
And this is where our story ends.
Things could have ended in disaster
But they all lived happily ever after.
A Preview of our next play....
There once was an ugly Duckling
Who grew into an ugly Duck
But everybody loved him
He didn't care about his looks
