Today we are looking at SAFETY IN OUR SCHOOL.
We are having a CRACKDOWN!
People have forgotten our rules! So we had a long. Long. Long. Chat.
We had a little play. In the play a child was pushed in the line. They fell and hurt their knee badly. How do they feel? Here is what we think.Hurt, bloody all over, sad, about to cry, sore, upset,a cracked feeling in their bone, hit, annoyed, bullied, angry, sorry for yourself, sick, shocked, broken, injured, that the other person should feel ashamed, embarassed, humiliated, troubled, that the other person should pay for this, feeling bad, lousy, in need of a plaster. Blinded with tears
What happens next to turn this story into a one with a happy ending?
We did a second play; this time a child said something mean to another. We thought of a silly think; the child was dancing and the other said, “Your dancing is very bad!”. The person stopped dancing and walked very sadly with their head down.
We are now thinking about fixes.
Get a tissue for their eyes and knee
Call an ambulance if it's really bad
Helping you up
Bringing you to get a plaster at the office
fetching you an ice pack
say sorry
shake hands
play with them
give them a hug
Say six nice things to cheer them up or do six nice things.
Help them back in the classroom with their work
Tidy their place
give them a “sorry present”, something maybe like a thing they once lost
do their work for them
play with them
play their game
help them find new friends
do their messages
do everything for them!
Sit on a special bench...a bench with colours...you can go and sit on it...if you're sad you can sit on it, someone will come over...
give them money or some compensation
pay for the damage
choose them a toy at playtime
write their homework down for them
send the person home to think about what they did wrong
send them to the wall or detention
bring them to the doctor
a prayer for them
a picture for them
send them to the principal so that they can be punished
get them to make a poster, like one that says keep your hands to yourself and your feet on the ground.
Be their best friend
