What a shame this is not a children's film; a little too scary for even fairly big children. It did have me jump out of my seat more than once. If you want to see forest, now this is forest; glorious biodiversity, towering trees with monkeys, lots of tree-climbing on vines and why to avoid lighting fires in the undergrowth. State of the art 3D makes it prime escapism, it's hard to imagine an act which included the Beatles and Louis Armstrong could be followed but they have.
Plant-for-the-Planet’s 3-Point Plan to save our future:
- Plant 1,000 billion trees by 2020
- Leave fossil fuels in the ground (CO2-free by 2050)
- Combat poverty with climate justice
So where are we planting?
Kids in Portland, USA recently ran an Academy. Read about it here. Details of ours are being finalised for Winter 2016/17.
I have been watching where our Plant for the Planet donations are used for; among other things the planting of trees on private foundation grounds in Campeche in southwestern Mexico. It would be great to get schoolchildren, assisted by professionals, doing the planting of all of our trees, I am looking into how feasible this is in the Global South. Will report back!
I have an invitation to tomorrow's National Sales and Marketing summit. They want my title for the badge. I am googling titles and came across this definition of The Social Entrepreneur. It looks like how we are doing things. I hereby declare myself the Team Leader having read this, it does not sound too bossy I think. Oh we don't name-call; ok well when my daughter was a Social Entrepreneur and I asked my husband what it was, his answer was "I'm not quite sure but it sounds like they don't earn too much money". So that fits then. I will let you know how I get on.
It was really exciting to see 1500 saplings growing vigorously in the Spring Sunshine when we sent a team to view them at their nursery in Drumcondra! Thank you so much Forest Friends for the great tour and good luck with your Maypole Festival on Sunday May 1st at the ABC centre at one o clock next week!
